Homelessness Support

DIGNITY, COMPASSION AND HOPE

Christian Caring Ministries Trust believes that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect. Homelessness can include sleeping rough, living in temporary or unsafe accommodation, moving between friends’ homes, facing eviction or being at immediate risk of losing a home.

Our aim is to respond without judgement and to help people identify practical steps towards greater safety, stability and hope.

OUR PURPOSE

CCMT seeks to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing a welcoming point of contact, compassionate listening, practical information and appropriate signposting. We recognise each person as an individual with their own history, needs, strengths and aspirations.

HOW WE MAY HELP

Subject to our capacity and available resources, our support may include:

• Providing a safe and respectful environment in which someone can be heard

• Offering practical information about available support

• Signposting people to suitable housing, welfare, health or specialist services

• Helping individuals understand possible next steps

• Supporting appropriate enquiries or referrals

• Providing essential items when resources are available

• Encouraging social connection and community participation

• Offering emotional encouragement during difficult circumstances

• Providing Christian pastoral support and prayer when requested

• Supporting people rebuilding their lives after homelessness, offending, addiction or other significant challenges

SUPPORTING PEOPLE AT RISK

Early support can sometimes prevent a difficult housing situation from becoming a crisis. Where possible, we encourage people who are worried about losing their accommodation to seek appropriate advice at the earliest opportunity. This may include contacting the relevant local authority, housing provider, advice service or qualified organisation.

CCMT does not provide legal or regulated housing advice, but we may offer practical encouragement and appropriate signposting.

MORE THAN IMMEDIATE RELIEF

We recognise the need for longer-term stability, confidence and community connection. Our approach seeks to encourage personal dignity, informed decision-making, greater independence, healthy relationships, access to appropriate services and hope for a more stable future.

A PLACE OF WELCOME

People experiencing homelessness should be treated as individuals, not as problems. At CCMT, we seek to create an environment in which people are welcomed, listened to and respected. Support is offered without discrimination. Christian pastoral care and prayer are available when requested, but participation in religious activity is not a condition of receiving appropriate support.

WORKING WITH OTHERS

Homelessness is complex and cannot be addressed by one organisation alone. Where appropriate, we seek to cooperate with churches, charities, community groups, local services and specialist agencies so that people can connect with support relevant to their needs.

SAFEGUARDING AND BOUNDARIES

We are committed to safeguarding, confidentiality, equality, dignity and responsible professional boundaries. Personal information is handled appropriately, and our representatives recognise when a situation requires help from a qualified professional or statutory service.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

CCMT is not an emergency accommodation provider and cannot guarantee housing, financial assistance or access to a particular service. Our support does not replace local-authority homelessness services, emergency services, medical treatment, mental-health care, legal advice or other specialist professional support.

Anyone facing immediate danger, a medical emergency or an urgent risk to life should contact the appropriate emergency service. A person who is homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness should seek assistance from the relevant local authority as early as possible.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Individuals, churches, community groups and organisations can support this work through volunteering, providing suitable essential items, supporting responsible outreach and developing appropriate partnerships with CCMT. Please contact us before delivering donated items so that we can confirm what is currently needed and what we can receive.

MOVING FORWARD WITH HOPE

We believe that homelessness should never remove a person’s dignity, voice or hope. Through compassionate support, responsible signposting and community connection, CCMT seeks to stand alongside people as they take positive steps towards greater stability, belonging and a new beginning.

Everyone deserves to be seen, heard and treated with dignity.
